Gather with us on Sundays

Desert City is a community following Jesus, with gatherings that are simple and sacred.

Simple and Sacred

Desert City began gathering in 2014 around the idea of a church that wasn’t focused on creating the latest and greatest worship experience and instead prioritized the Christian values of simplicity and holiness into the fabric of the church. These emphases are communicated in our statement, “Simple and Sacred.” Simple communicates our desire to eliminate the distractions that would pull us away from our truest focus and desire, God himself. Sacred indicates the reason why we gather at all, the telos or goal of our gatherings: to experience life that is truly life. Our greatest desire is that Desert City would become a “thin place”, a space where heaven and earth begin to overlap, where the Kingdom of God is manifestly present to all who seek it.

Simple Worship

Worship at Desert City is a place of respite in our busy and chronically stressed culture. We strive to make our gatherings simple, without the superficial distractions that characterize our time. Our worship center was designed with traditional church architecture featuring natural light and a simple stage design. On an average Sunday we play a mix of contemporary artists as well as classic hymns. At times we’ll also incorporate liturgical prayers that ground us in our historical roots as the people of God.

Services at 9:15 and 10:45

You can join us in person on Sundays at 9:15 and 10:45. Services last approximately 60 minutes, but the lifeblood of our church happens before and after services on the patio. A livestream of our services is also available HERE. (Link) For families we recommend arriving 10 minutes before the service starts to check in your kids. Learn more about City Kids below.

Bible Centered Teaching

At Desert City we believe the Bible is central to our life with God. All of our life flows from our understanding of who God is as revealed in the scriptures. To that end, teaching at Desert City centers around the Word and the gospel. On any given Sunday you can expect to learn from the Bible and what it means for us today.  Learn more about what we believe (link)

Our Campus

Our campus is located in Northeast Phoenix at 4242 E Greenway Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032. Built in 1988, we recently renovated the campus with new classroom designs and modern improvements after the 2021 merger.

City Kids

What is City Kids

The heart of City Kids is to introduce the gospel to kids with Bible stories, games, and authentic community. During our Sunday gatherings, we provide bible lessons and activities for ages birth to 4th grade. Our classrooms are divided by grade with age-appropriate lessons and community with other young Jesus followers. We strive to make Sunday mornings a place where kids are excited to come back each week. If you have questions about City Kids you can email selah@desertcitychurch.com

How To Check-In Your Child

  1. Find our “New Guest Check in” cart next to the kids' classrooms.

  2. We’ll put in your contact information to our check-in system (Planning Center) and print a name tag for your child. (At your next visit, you’ll be able to type in your phone number to check them in at a station.)

  3. After you check-in, a name label and check-out tag will print. (Please keep your check-out tag, as our volunteers may use the tag to match children with their parents for safety.)

  4. Once your child has their name tag, you’ll walk them to their classroom. To pick up your child after service, show your check-out tag to the City Kids volunteer.

Youth

On any given Sunday you can expect to see youth students corralling younger siblings, worshiping at our main services, and serving in various ways. On Sundays at 9:15am our students 5-8th grade meet in the Youth Room.
