The Good News According To John

This lent we have begun a journey with Jesus through the Gospel of John.  Gospel means "good news", and John is writing this good news down "so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and that by believing you may have LIFE in his name." -John 20:31.  Thousands of years ago the word Gospel was used to describe the "good news" of a great historical event, like victory in war.  Gospel is news about what has already been done, not advice on what needs to be done.  When we receive the news it changes us, it inserts us into a new reality, and gives us new hope.  The Good News of Jesus is something that has already been done, and its been done for you and me, so that we may have "LIFE in his name"!

Many have said that the book of John is like a pool in which a toddler can wade, yet is it deep enough for an elephant to swim.  We want to invite you into this pool, to read this news, to hear this news on Sundays, and to see how GOOD it is.
