Advent. A Latin word meaning ‘coming’ or ‘visitation’. Historically, we can trace the roots of an Advent season to the 6th century. Over time, Advent became the season where Christians began to turn their attention to the Incarnation – the coming of Jesus. As we journey through this season together, we are reminded of our need for God’s hope, peace, joy and love – and we begin to see that fulfilled in the coming of Jesus. May this be a sacred journey – one in which we find life in the God who became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.
